Written during the McCarthy era, Susannah is based loosely on the Apocryphal tale of Susannah and the Elders. Set in New Hope Valley, TN, Susannah, a pretty and well-mannered young woman of humble origins, is faced with hostility from her church community. Alongside local and regional performers in this site-specific and immersive production of Susannah, Marble City Opera’s production features Metropolitan Opera Singer, David Crawford starring as Preacher Blitch.
